Design Tints has evolved from (Dial-A-Tint Window Films) a residential and car tinting company over 25 years ago by Mohammad and Wafaa Thompson. During the early years Mohammad and Wafaa worked with dedication to build their reputation and establish themselves as specialists in this area.
History Design Tints has evolved from (Dial-A-Tint Window Films) a residential and car tinting company over 25 years ago by Mohammad and Wafaa Thompson. In the early years Mohammad and Wafaa worked with dedication to build their reputation and establish themselves as specialists in this area. In the early years, Design Tints focused on the supply and installation of window film that offered predominately functional applications.
Through sheer hard work and determination, Design Tints became known for its high-quality production and superior installation and over time they positioned their company as an industry innovator by their increasing capacity to install graphics on a variety of media.
Today, with Mohammad and Wafaa still as directors, Design Tints is still a family business, though it has grown significantly in size and production capacity since those early years.
It continues to be well respected for its fast turnaround of measures and quotes and its commendable levels of staff retention.
Design Tints also continues to innovate, through exploring and discovering approaches to handling new media and ways to print and apply window film to glass. While its services continue to be extremely functional, they now also provide greater scope for artistic and creative applications.
Design Tints is proud to offer our window film service to many of New Zealand’s leading companies and institutions. The company continues to stand by their commitment to provide professional service and high-quality products.
ACCREDITATIONS
3M
The team at Design Tints have been appointed as Licensed Window Film Applicators and are part of the 3M network of preferred film applicators. The intensive training cause included technical and installation training on a range of their products including the range of Prestige Solar Films that can only be installed by a licensed applicator.
This partnership with 3M gives peace of mind to our customers that we are backed by one of the most respected names in Commercial Window Films and Signage & Printed Films.
SITESAFE
Site Safe is a small independent organisation set up by the construction industry. Its single job is to reduce construction injuries and deaths by taking the lead in promoting construction site safety. Design Tints became a Site Safe member from its beginning and have been supporting them for over 20 years.
We take safety in the work place very seriously and all our frontline staff renew their Site Safe passports every 2 years and ensure these practices are used and adhered to in the work place.
SITEWISE
SiteWise is a prequalification system created by SiteSafe. It assesses a contractor’s health & safety capability and makes that information available online.
As part of our recruitment process, we make sure all contractors meet the health and safety performance.
EMS
Design Tints undertook the implementation of an environmental management system to reduce waste costs and inefficiency. This helps with the preservation of our natural resources and can reduce the cost of finding more or new resources.
Benefits from being part of EMS include improvements to employee safety and morale, the use of alternative and/or less hazardous materials.
Managing our environmental operations and practises can result in a dramatic reduction in the cost of waste disposal.

ENVIRONMENTAL
Design Tints takes Environmental issues very seriously and ensure all staff members are aware of the company’s policy, understand it and implement it in their work practices.
We are constantly monitoring all aspects of our work practices that affect the environment so that we can find ways to reduce our effect on the environment through less rubbish for land fill, recycling programs, less power usage and waste water use and the reduction of fossil fuels by better management of vehicles.
HEALTH & SAFTEY
Design Tints takes Health & Safety very seriously and ensure all staff members are aware of the company’s policy, understand it and implement it in their work practices.
Everyone goes to work with the intention of returning home to their loved ones each day but the actions we take throughout the day is what will bring us home safely.
